ERA-IX Unified Peering

The peering landscape is evolving rapidly, changing the way we exchange traffic between members. At ERA-IX we're hard at work to stay at the leading edge for dependable connectivity towards your peers. To facilitate peering towards networks that are not available or pulling back from public peering, we've introduced Unified peering.

Unified peering is a descendant from our Liberty Global premium peering service, where you can exchange traffic with Liberty Global (AS6830) through your ERA-IX port, but it’s evolved to also facilitate routed peering. You can request (ticket, messages, you know how to reach us 😜) routes from peers falling under the unified peering program, and you will get them from our route-server. In the middle of this route you will see AS44912, as AS44912 is responsible for taking on PNIs and routing them into the peering LAN.

Our commitment - Reliable exchanging

We want to maintain the reliability and character of ERA-IX, where you can assume any route you get across ERA-IX is the best route towards a network. For this reason, Unified Peering will be limited to direct PNIs between AS44912 and desirable networks, so no other internet exchanges, mangled AS-PATHs and such, as we've seen happen in the industry a lot as of recent 😶

Available today in Amsterdam and Frankfurt

We’ve been developing this feature and have already performed successful early field trials, and the service is already providing value for some members, if you’re ready to get effective routes towards Google (AS15169) in Amsterdam and Frankfurt, drop us a message!

That’s it for today!
