The Ambassador Program
Tamer

Dear customers, friends, and fans! Today we introduce something unique, again, that no other IXPs offers (yet, of course): the Ambassador Program. This is a new program to enhance our presence in a metro by having an ambassador who is local and native to the metro. The goal is to lower the barrier for potential new members to get in touch with us, by knowing the local culture and language. An ambassador at ERA-IX is a voluntary role meant for peering and network enthusiasts who are already working in the field. They are actively involved in developing a metro and are closely in the loop with the Eranium team.
So isn't this basically sales? No, our origins are not in sales, and we are strongly against the typical sales strategies in IT. An ambassador must be technical like our current team, must love to work with peering and networks, and want to improve peering in general. The ambassador assists the Eranium team by making the right decisions in the specific metro, because each country has a different culture and way of working.
Does that mean they are working completely free? No, there are some fancy perks to being an ambassador. Does it mean they are making commissions? No, we do not believe in traditional commissions, although this is very common in our business. We simply prefer to keep our company fair and transparent; peering should be affordable, accessible, and fair for all parties.
Stay tuned; we will quietly announce new ambassadors soon. We are also looking for new ambassador applications, so if you love peering, and are technical and experienced, feel free to reach out to us for more information.
